Metal Fabricator

OCEANCROSS PTY LTD trading as ABBA Engineering is seeking one trade-qualified Metal fabricator to join our team to mark off and fabricate structural steel and other metal stock to make or repair metal products and structures such as boilers and pressure vessel. The position is full- time and permanent contract including living and working in the Goldfields DAMA region. We offer a wide range of services including shutdowns, labour hire, metal fabrication, mobile welding, polyethylene piping and dewatering specialities etc. This allows us to be exceptionally recognisable for providing solutions to the complex demands of the world’s leading mining companies. Relocation assistance maybe an option for the right candidates relocating to Kalgoorlie.

Main duties and responsibilities:

• studying blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements
• selecting, cleaning and preparing metal stock
• cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines
• shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering
• aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments
• joining metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting and riveting
• examining welds for width of bead, penetration and precision
• finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing and bathing in acidic solutions
• cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiselling and grinding
• Aligns parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments
• Completion of Job Cards, Timesheets and site required paperwork
• Maintain and use of plant and equipment as designated
• General Cleaning of plant and equipment, as well as worksite.

Qualifications:

Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication 

Current unrestricted C Class Drivers Licence with intention for class upgrade to MR Licence as required

Current Forklift Licence

Confined Space Ticket

Working at Heights Ticket

Elevated Working Platform Licence

Skills & competencies:

Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in metal fabricating. 

Understand weld ability of QT Steels, Stainless Steels, Duplex Steels, Wear Plate, other exotic steels and Poly products.

Satisfactory knowledge of all vehicles, plant and equipment that you are certified to use.

Customer Service Focused: committed to providing exceptional customer service across all channels – written, phone and face to face.

Communication: the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, varying communication style depending upon the audience.

Attention to Detail: excellent attention to detail when communicating with others, both internally and externally.

Workmanship: ability to apply knowledge in a practical manner, ensuring products are well-made.

Overnight or multisite stays away for work will be required to fulfil the requirements of the role.

REMUNERATION:

The annual remuneration guide is from $90,000.00 – $110,000.00 plus superannuation based on experience.
