Our operations are located in Mount Carbine, Far North Queensland, and we are currently seeking a highly experienced Metallurgical Technician (Sensor Based& Gravity Plant) to join our team.

 

The location and Lifestyle:

The Company’s principal place of business is located only 500m from the Mt Carbine township on the Mulligan Highway central to Mossman, Port Douglas, Mareeba, Julatten and Mt Molloy.  Mt Carbine has a rich history of tungsten production and is strategically and conveniently located only 75k kms from beautiful Port Douglas in Far North Queensland.   For those with families there is a choice of private and public schools, as well as universities and technical education facilities in the area. 

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Metallurgical Technician (Sensor Based& Gravity Plant) to join our team at Mt Carbine.

 The Mt Carbine mine is in the process of expanding the operation after purchasing a second XRT Sorter, the ideal candidate will also be required to manage the expansion, implementation and

commissioning of the XRT and Gravity Processing plant. Thereafter, the appointed individual will be responsible working with technical experts for the

ongoing daily operation guidance, and optimisation of the Sensor-Based Sorting plant along with the gravity processing plant daily for the production of tungsten concentrate.

In addition to the above, the appointed person will be required to develop, manage, and conduct test programs for the company on any new mineral samples as the company sees fit and develop appropriate test work programs in line with these requirements while still being responsible for the overall production output of the Sorting platforms.

This role will be a hand’s on, technician role with the company and will involve significant work in outdoor environments on the processing plants located at the operational site.

EQ Resources has recently completed a significant test work campaign using X-Ray Transmission (“XRT”) sorting technology as part of the Company’s growth strategy for the Mt Carbine mine and recently upgraded gravity processing plant. The successful result of recent test work programs has led to the requirement of a full-time Metallurgical Technician to lead the commissioning and optimisation of the Sensor-Based Sorting and Gravity Processing plant at the Mt Carbine Mine.

The Mt Carbine mine is in the process of expanding the operation after purchasing a second XRT Sorter, the ideal candidate will also be required to manage the expansion,

implementation and commissioning of the XRT and Gravity Processing plant. Thereafter, the appointed individual will be responsible working with technical experts for the ongoing daily operation guidance, and optimisation of the

Sensor-Based Sorting plant along with the gravity processing plant daily for the production of tungsten concentrate.

Key Responsibilities

·         Process stream sampling, feed/product/waste (daily), XRT Sorting plant, crushing screening plant, gravity processing plant. ·

·         Sample preparation for lab analysis, submission to the lab, and reporting on a daily basis. ·

·         Input of daily production data into production tracking spreadsheets, data analysis, interpretation, and daily reporting. Continuous recommendations for XRT Sorter production efficiency increases based on daily reporting data. ·

·         Weekly engagement with specialist TOMRA technicians regarding production statistics, algorithm analysis, and planning for ongoing continuous production improvements of the XRT Sorters. ·

·         Give direction and guidance to plant operators based on analysis of the data generated, in conjunction with the technical operations team, regarding plant efficiency improvements on an ongoing basis to achieve production targets and continuously improve processing operations in line with the Operation’s team guidance. ·

·         Weekly checks of mechanical components of XRT Sorter to optimise tungsten recovery and XRT Sorter performance. ·

·         Complete monthly planning and work programs surrounding sampling, scheduling, data analysis, and efficiency optimisation for presentation to the Operations Manager for implementation. ·

·         Weekly and monthly reporting of findings, plant production, efficiency improvements and month-to-month comparisons for presentation to management. ·

·         Development of test work programs for new commodity samples from regional areas as available, execute test work campaigns in line with planning and final reporting accordingly.·

·         Work with technical operations teams for the construction, commissioning and optimisation of a new XRT Sorting plant while continuing the abovementioned responsibility for the ongoing operations.

Key Selection Criteria

·         A Tertiary degree in a technical field is required with operational production experience. ·

·         Project Management certification is a value-add for the position and will be viewed favourably for applicants.

.          Experience in Gravity Processing Plant operations, supporting metallurgists in data collection and interpretation.  (5 years experince essential)

.          Experience in the operation of sensor-based sorters is required, along with the data collection, analysis, and interpretation of sorting operations. Experience gained with both TOMRA and Steinert sorting systems is required and knowledge of additional Sensor-based Sorting platforms beneficial.  (5 years experience essential)

·         Operational experience in tungsten sorting operations is required with additional commodity experience beneficial. ·

·         Project management experience is required in taking a Sensor-Based Sorting project from concept or feasibility through to implementation and operational project status. ·

·         Experience in the development of sample and test work programs to optimise processing operations and increase efficiencies in processing plants. ·

·         Daily sample collection, data analysis and recording is required, with daily, weekly and monthly reporting to be completed. ·

·         Experience working with and supporting sensor-Based Sorting specialists regarding sorting algorithm development, optimisation, and continuous improvement of the sorting platform.

·         Experience developing test work programs using Sensor-Based Sorting technology and the capability of working with process engineers for downstream design and integration. 

·         Strong relationship and contact base with Steinert and TOMRA representatives is preferred as the Metallurgical Technician will be required to engage with TOMRA technicians and processing specialists on an ongoing basis for continuous algorithm optimisation. 

·         Ability to problem solve around physical components of sorting platform, upkeep, repair, and maintenance of machines in support of technical operations teams. ·

·         Capability of working with Microsoft Office package and MS Projects ·

    Experience managing teams and upkeep of sensor-based sorters.

    • Radiation training for

    work on Sensor-Based Sorting equipment.

    The position is permanently located at Mt Carbine Mine in Far North Queensland with the appointed individual required to work on site daily five days per week.  No FIFO roster will be considered for this position, permanent relocation is required.  Accommodation and meals are not provided.
