About the Role
Reporting to Manager Metallurgy and Processing, the Metallurgy Specialist is responsible for overseeing metallurgical activities related to project development. The role will require testwork management, flowsheet development and input into process and metallurgical models. The successful applicant will work in close collaboration with other departments within Technical Services and Projects teams to ensure the development of technically robust process designs.
Key Duties
- Provide metallurgical input into future studies and long-term initiatives to optimise resource.
- Develop and manage metallurgical testwork campaigns to understand geometallurgical characteristics and improve orebody knowledge.
- Engage and manage consultants, equipment vendors, external laboratories and any other third parties during project development and delivery.
- Work within the team to provide technically robust process designs supporting recovery and efficiency initiatives.
- Clearly communicate with leaders by preparing high quality PowerPoint presentations, testwork reports and technical memorandums.
- Engage and partner with multiple stakeholders across varied projects providing processing peer reviews supporting processing studies.
- Contribute to the delivery of study deliverables, including material balances and process design criteria.
- Develop project scopes and business cases to maintain project progression.
- Manage project budgets and schedules via effective management of external consultants and metallurgical laboratories.
- Engage and partner with multiple stakeholders across various projects to provide processing peer reviews and support processing studies.
Essential
Tertiary Qualification/s - Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering/Metallurgy or other related scientific degree
Minimum 10 years of professional experience in the mineral processing sector including:
Experience within wet processing operations.
Exposure to flowsheet development, plant design and process modelling.
Experience with testwork management, planning, analysis and reporting.
Experience with projects aimed to increase ore-body knowledge
Exposure to Gravity Separation, Dense Media Separation and Magnetic Separation technologies
Flow sheet modelling in LIMN and/or SysCAD
Relevant skills and experience relating to concept and feasibility studies.
A good fundamental understanding of comminution, physical and beneficiation test work.
Experience in ore beneficiation operations and the metallurgical tests utilised to assess and evaluate these processes.
