About your new role:

Currently Energy Queensland has a permanent opportunity for a Metering Technician to be located at Cairns, Mackay, or Townsville. Working as a crucial part of the Customer Metering team, you will contribute to the success of the Metering Operations program of work across QLD, including both regulated and unregulated programs including Yurika and Powerlink.

As the Metering Technician you will provide a high level of specialised technical service, laboratory testing, complex equipment accuracy calculations for internal and external customers. You will be responsible for the evaluation, design, coordination, installation, commissioning and maintenance of complex metering systems. This includes all low voltage and high voltage metering systems, complex Generator and Bulk Supply metering equipment for metering providers, customers, and consultants. Additionally you will take on a leadership role within the team and organise allocated duties and budget requirements to achieve key performance metrics. You will also provide mentoring, coaching and training to colleagues and manage project deliverables and timelines.

The remuneration for your new role as the Metering Technician, is from $128,196 - $137,230 + 12.75% Super for 9-day fortnight and $144,862 - $155,065 + 12.75% super for 10-day fortnight if you have met the essential qualification.

About you:

Critical to your success in this role is your:

  • Queensland Electrical Workers’ Electrical Fitter Mechanic licence (or ability to obtain) and a ‘C’ class driver’s licence.
  • Associate Diploma of Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Demonstrated ability in installation, testing and fault finding of complex metering systems (including telecommunication equipment).
  • Strong time-management skills and an ability to plan, prioritise and co-ordinate resources to deliver positive outcomes within the agreed timeframes.
  • Excellent customer service skills with ability to solve issues and adapt/learn new skills.
  • Ability to provide coaching and technical support to individuals and teams alike.
  • Ability to use a variety of electronic devices and learn new software/skills effectively.
  • Availability for extensive travel across the state.

It would be highly desirable if you have experience working in HV enclosures including maintenance and testing of instrument transformers.
