Salary Range: $70,679 - $97,028 (PN: 11494, several)

Details: The Microbiology Unit of the ACT Government Analytical Laboratory is a small highly trained team which undertakes analysis of food, water and environment samples for the presence of microorganisms of public health significance. The unit is seeking suitably qualified microbiologists to fill two positions within the unit.

As a Microbiologist, you will perform routine and investigative microbiological examinations of food, water, and environmental samples. In addition to this, you will also perform quality control and quality assurance procedures and carry out checks to ensure accreditation to ISO 17025 is supported and maintained. 

It is expected that the successful candidate will possess the following attributes: relevant technical knowledge and ability in the field of Microbiology, understanding of working within a quality management system (ISO 17025), well developed communication skills, initiative, personal accountability and flexibility.

 Eligibility/ Other Requirements: 

• Undergraduate Degree in Science is mandatory (postgraduate studies and/or major in Microbiology highly desirable)
• Successful candidate will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.

Note: This is a temporary position available 18 April 2024 to 18 October 2024 with the possibility of permanency. An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
