Are you an experienced microbiologist with a passion for quality and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards? Our warm and welcoming contract testing laboratory is seeking a full time Microbiology Laboratory Manager to join our expanding team. In this role you'll play a crucial part in building and upholding the integrity of our brand new microbiology department while contributing to a positive and collaborative work environment.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee, manage and participate in all aspects of our microbiology testing services including product testing, environmental monitoring and method validation, ensuring strict adherence to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and TGA/APVMA regulations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain user-friendly standard operating procedures (SOPs) and effective quality control measures to ensure accurate and reliable microbiology testing results.
- Lead and mentor our small dedicated team of microbiologists, providing technical guidance, training, and support to foster their growth and development.
- Build strong relationships with clients, regulatory authorities, and internal stakeholders, understanding their unique needs and delivering exceptional customer service.
- Evaluate and validate new testing methodologies, equipment, and technologies to continuously improve our laboratory's capabilities.
- Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) in a collaborative and constructive manner, addressing deviations or quality issues.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, guidelines, and industry standards, maintaining accurate documentation and record-keeping practices.
- Participate in internal and external audits, inspections, and proficiency testing programs, demonstrating our laboratory's competency and commitment to quality.
- Manage laboratory resources efficiently while maintaining the highest quality standards, fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment.
The successful applicant will have the following:
- Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology or related science.
- Experience in a leadership or supervisory role would be advantageous but not essential.
- Understanding of regulatory guidelines and standards in the pharmaceutical industry.
- A minimum 5 years experience in a microbiology laboratory.
- A minimum 2 years in a TGA / GMP laboratory.
- High proficiency in writing technical documents and procedures.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities.
