Higher education organisation headquartered in Townsville seeking a Microsoft SysAdmin

Your new company 

An impactful higher education organisation headquartered in Townsville with operations throughout Queensland and Singapore are seeking a Microsoft SysAdmin to deploy, support and manage the organisations ever growing list of IT systems and assets!

Your new role 

Established many years ago, this organisation has deep ties to multiple communities throughout Queensland not only due to their educational offerings, but it’s community engagements. Not limited to just these (and the many employment opportunities the organisation brings), the significant research conducted at their many sites aim to change the lives of people for the better. 

Your newly created role here will see you work within a highly skilled and multi-disciplined IT Services Team (as part of the wider IT Infrastructure Directorate). This team are responsible for the creation, deployment, management and support of all hardware, software, systems and solutions used by both students and academic staff. These devices include (but are not limited to) AV equipment, virtual machines, IoT devices, mobile equipment, desktop hardware and Wi-Fi infrastructure (among others). 

Your role within this team will have a focus on designing and deploying Managed Operating Environments (MOE’s) as well as Standard Operating Environments (SOE’s) to ensure the organisations continual operation. To do this you will be using tools such as MECM, SCCM and Intune alongside utilizing Microsoft’s Power App’s suite and PowerShell. These will be used to deploy and manage OS images, ensure best use policies amongst users and software packaging among other duties.

Alongside this, as part of this team your new role will see you conduct a variety of other hardware, software and systems related responsibilities. These can include hardware rollouts, mobile OS configuration, 365 administration, data analysis, cyber security, systems management and remote software deployment to name a few. In conjunction with these technical actives, you will also be conducting non-hands-on work such as technical documentation, planning activities, road map creation and project management amongst other higher-level duties.

What you'll need to succeed 

You will need experience/knowledge across as much of the following as possible:

  • MECN, SCCM and Intune
  • Managed and Standard Operating Environments 
  • Microsoft’s Power Apps suite 
  • PowerShell and/or Bash
  • Endpoint Device Management
  • Microsoft 365 (including Microsoft’s Graph API) 
  • The Microsoft eco system (Windows 10, Defender for Endpoint, Azure, Active Directory, Windows Server, SharePoint, etc)
  • Application Packaging
  • Hardware (Desktops, Laptops, Mobile Devices etc) deployment/rollouts
  • Networking/Infrastructure platforms (Switches, Routers, etc)
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Technical mindset
  • Working with stakeholders at all levels
  • Perfect communication skills (written and verbal)

You will be offered a permanent role with an impactful higher education organisation in Townsville paying $100,700 – $109,070 base.
