As a MIG Welder, the duties will include:
Studying blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements
Selecting, cleaning and preparing metal stock
Fabrication of steel frames for vehicle seating
MIG welding of light gauge steel sections
Perform sub-assembly and full assembly of automotive seat frames
Develop production tooling, jigs and fixtures to ensure high quality, accurate and repeatable parts manufacture
Maintain inventory levels (raw materials and completed buffer stock) as required to ensure continuous assembly line production
Provide directions to trade assistant as required
Maintain a clean, safe, organised and productive manufacturing work environment
Report to the Production Manager
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Certificate III in Engineering Fabrication Trade - Welder (1st class) or equivalent or relevant experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience
Extensive experience in using GMAW welding processes, particularly focused on light gauge steel and hollow section material
Competent in the use of metalworking tools including drills, saws, presses, hydraulic benders, grinders, milling machines, linishers and punches,
Practical workplace experience in Lean Production systems and factory manufacturing environment, is essential. Demonstrated understanding of lean principles such as JIT, JIS, Kanban, Kaizen, Tact-time and one-piece flow.
Competent at reading engineering drawings and understanding welding symbols
Forklift licence is an advantage
Must have strong adherence OH&S and in keeping a safe workplace
High levels of attention to detail
Self-motivated and able to work independently as required
Remuneration:
$70,000 to $75,000 depending skill level and experience. Remuneration will reflect current market conditions and industry award rates. To be discussed with the successful applicant.
