The Royal Australian Corps of Military Police are law enforcement specialist within the Australian Army. The 1st Military Police Battalion provide the Australia Army with a tactically proficient law enforcement organization, expert in the delivery of policing effects, both for and to the force, in environments characterized by complexity, austerity and risk.
Military Police are responsible for a variety of roles in the battle space, such as security, mobility & maneuver support, and internment and detention operations.
As part of this work experience placement, students will be hosted by B Company, 1st Military Police Battalion and will gain knowledge and understanding of the Military Police capability in a barracks, field and operational environment. Students will have exposure to the following roles:
- General Duties – consisting of hands on experience with armored and non-armored vehicles, specialist equipment, exposure to investigation techniques and detention operations. • Military Police Dogs (MPD) – consisting of exposure to the handling, administration and husbandry of the Military working dogs by experienced handlers.
- Close Personal Protection (CPP) – consisting of exposure to conduct CPP operations, the duties of a Bodyguard and Protection Team, specialist equipment. Students will have the opportunity to participate in Physical Training, assist in training activities, observe training serials, have hands-on exposure to equipment, and view demonstrations of specialist activities conducted by members of B Company, 1st Military Police Battalion.
