About the Role:

As a Mine Engineer, looking after our Water Resources, you will provide plans and practical input to the technical services department supporting the site to meet performance targets and utilising your initiative to seek out ways of ensuring continuous improvements are made.

Key aspects include:

  • Utilise drone technology for aerial surveys to gather data for pit design and water resource assessments.

  • Conduct pit surface modeling using Surpac, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate pit design and water management systems and strategies.

  • Develop and implement pit modeling in Excel, incorporating calculations for water flow and safety.

  • Ensure compliance with water safety regulations and perform necessary calculations to demonstrate water containment within the designated areas.

  • Communicating with stakeholders to ensure all levels of the mine plans and schedules are interpreted effectively.

  • Perform on-site evaluations and devise effective controls for the mining area. This role entails ongoing surveillance of drainage controls and the preparation of regular reports.

What you can bring to the role:

To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:

  • Degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Mine and Engineering Surveying or equivalent required.

  • Strong analytical skills with a high attention to detail.

  • Experience of working with mine planning tools ideally Minesight Atlas, or similar

  • Proficiency in using drone technology for aerial surveys. (Or willingness to learn)

  • Experience in Surpac (or similar) software for pit surface modeling.

  • Strong skills in Excel for pit modeling and water flow calculations.

  • Familiarity with water safety regulations and compliance standards.

About the Location

Willowdale is one of our two bauxite mines in Western Australia, and is located in the Darling Scarp east of Waroona and Cookernup. It supplies bauxite ore to the Wagerup Alumina Refinery via a direct overland conveying system and helps to produce almost half of Australia’s alumina and approximately 19 per cent of Australia’s aluminium.
