About the Role
As one of Australia’s largest iron ore producers, MinRes operates three key mining hubs in Western Australia. This portfolio includes the transformative Onslow Iron project, one of the largest iron ore developments in Australia, and is forecast to ship around 35 million tonnes of ore per year.
Reporting to the Technical Director (Ground Control & Water) and working from our Osborne Park office in Perth, you will manage the Water Engineering team to deliver fit-for-purpose concepts for surface water management, dewatering, and water supply infrastructure for mines and growth projects.
Your primary responsibilities may include:
- Advising on Water Engineering matters and managing the conceptual design, assessment, improvement, and optimisation of mine dewatering infrastructure.
- Developing models to identify and mitigate risks for greenfield and operational assets, including critical safety infrastructure.
- Creating and overseeing stormwater management plans (SWMPs) for mines and non-process infrastructure.
- Supervising the preparation of scope of work programs and engaging third-party consultants when necessary.
- Monitoring and updating the Principal Hydrogeologist on bore field operational performance (e.g. dewatering rates versus infrastructure utilisation and capacity).
- Mentoring team members to enable a pathway for technical and / or leadership success through practical and deliberate development plans.
What You’ll Bring to the Team
Our ideal candidate will have strong Water Engineering experience, including expertise in dewatering and water supply infrastructure.
Other key skills, experience, and qualifications:
- A tertiary qualification in civil, water, or mechanical engineering
- Experienced in specifying and modelling water infrastructure
- Previous team management experience
- Current WA Driver’s License – C Class
- While not essential, previous mining industry experience would be useful
