Kimberley Mineral Sands Pty Ltd (KMS) is a 50/50 joint venture between Sheffield Resources Limited and YGH Australia Investment Pty Ltd (Yansteel). The Thunderbird Mineral Sands Project (Thunderbird) is located mid-way between Derby and Broome, in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.
Thunderbird is one of the largest and highest-grade zircon mineral sands deposits in the world and contains valuable heavy minerals including ilmenite, zircon, leucoxene, and rutile, which are extracted and exported via the Port of Broome.

About the Role
Residing in the West Kimberley and reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, this is an exciting opportunity for a Mine Geologist to join our growing mining company.
This role will be responsible for providing timely and accurate geological information to support the Senior Mine Geologists and ensure mining activities occur in an effective and efficient manner.
Site based roster: 8 days on, 6 days off (Bus In Bus Out from Broome or Derby)
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with and support the coordination of all geology activities across site
- Complete geological sampling and mapping
- Support the design and coordination of grade control and drill programs
- Ensure Quality Assurance and Control (QAQC) of data
- Create, distribute and supervise ore blocks / mining flitch plans
- Complete daily/monthly reporting
About You
- Hold a current WA C-Class driver’s licence
- Tertiary qualification in Geology or a related discipline
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a Mine Geologist in an open pit environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work within a diverse team
- Demonstrated analytical and decision making skills
- Strong time management and organisational skills
- High level of attention to detail
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and goals
- Exposure to mineral sands operations would be advantageous
- Experience with Surpac, DataMine or similar mine planning software is desirable but not necessary
