MMG Rosebery:

Rosebery is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in Tasmania, Australia and is 100% owned by MMG Limited.

With continuous production since 1936 Rosebery mine has current potential to extend life beyond 2028.  This underground mine has continually attracted and produced world class professionals. The operation continues to deliver excellent operational performance and employs over 500 employees and contractors who reside in the local region.

Mine Scheduling Engineer

We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Mine Scheduling Engineer.  This role reports to the Mine Engineering Superintendent and is responsible for developing medium and long term Deswik mining schedules, medium term strategic mining plans and long term project development in collaboration with geological exploration and extensional drill programs.

This role represents a genuine career opportunity for a motivated professional for experience in life of asset planning. This role is offered on a 8:6 residential roster in Rosebery or DIDO from other locations in Tasmania. Flexible work arrangements may be available under specific circumstances. MMG will also support successful candidates to relocate to the region and provide a generous relocation package where required.

Competencies, qualifications and skills:

  • You will have strong experience as a Mine Engineer with a successful track record at the operational and planning level in underground open stope mining methods.  
  • Experience with Deswik Scheduler is essential.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering.
  • Working understanding of mineral economics.
  • Good knowledge of underground mine ventilation, underground geotechnical requirements in mine design and a good understanding of mine geology.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for the implementation of the long term mining schedule.
  • Work closely with the Engineering Superintendent to provide plans in preparation for the LOM plan, Budget and Reserves.
  • Review Life of Asset design using block Model updates and deliver updated Panel designs in a timely manner.
  • Design and complete economic viability evaluations of new mine areas, complete Panel Notes write-ups for review and approval in a timely manner for their inclusion in mine plans to allow Reserve conversion within the annual timeframe.
  • Provide New Designs in the required standard with attributes and naming conventions appropriate for inclusion in the Mine Schedule. Mine designs must be safe, practical and efficient with the objective to maximise pre-tax NPV.
  • Ensure final digital designs and supporting files are named in accordance with approved conventions and maintained in the appropriate layers in the Deswik FM Projects and Level Plans.
  • Develop plans to the specified standards. Mine designs must be safe, practical and efficient with the objective to maximise pre-tax NPV.
  • Provide support when required to the Short Term Planning Team to maintain short Term Plans for production requirements.
