About Blackwater
Located in Central Queensland, Whitehaven's Blackwater Mine is one of Queensland's largest coal mines. It is situated approximately 21 kilometres from the town of Blackwater.
The BUMA Australia team has been performing truck and excavator pre-strip operations at Blackwater since May 2012. Over 35 million bank cubic metres of material is mined by our fleets every year.
Our fleet at the mine comprises a combination of Komatsu 930E and Caterpillar 789C haul trucks with Hitachi EX8000, Caterpillar 6060 and Hitachi EX3600 excavators.
Job description:
We are seeking a people and safety focused Mining Manager to join our Blackwater team. As a key member of a high performing team you will manage mining production operations through the development and implementation of work and resource plans to achieve targets consistent with client KPIs.
You will play an integral role in influencing the project's safety, positive culture and production outcomes. You will have a strong focus on supervision of all mining and earth moving equipment, and lead safe and effective production teams, as well as drive continuous improvement principles.
Reporting to the Project Manager your key responsibilities will include:
- Promote a people first approach, with a key focus on safety and encouraging a positive culture
- Maintaining a high level of safety awareness of all employees and contractors
- Managing the production on site by optimising plans, methods, equipment, schedules and expenditure
- Ensuring ongoing effective people management of the crew by setting clear performance objectives, providing regular feedback and development for employees through training and skills development
- Complying with safety policies and procedures
- Communicating with the workforce regarding compliance to plans and production targets and communicating variances to those targets
Profile description:
About You
- Hold relevant Tertiary Qualifications in Mining or equivalent relevant experience in the Mining Industry.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in managing mining operations to consistently achieve KPIs.
- Demonstrated ability in decision making, organisational skills, leadership skills and applying Risk Management techniques.
- Advanced level of computer literacy and the ability to analyse mining performance data to achieve continuous improvement.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to liaise with staff and external stakeholders at all levels.
