About the role
GV Auto Mechanics is now seeking to recruit a qualified Motor Mechanic to join its friendly team. The role will be responsible for maintaining, testing and repairing motor vehicles and related mechanical components. Key tasks include:
- Inspecting vehicle engines and mechanical components to diagnose issues accurately;
- Using diagnostic equipment to aid in locating vehicle defects and troubleshooting mechanical faults for repair;
- Overhauling and repairing engines and transmissions on petrol, diesel, LPG gas and hybrid powered vehicles;
- Disassembling engine, transmission, or differential units and inspecting parts for wear, using micrometres, callipers, and thickness gauges;
- Overhauling, repairing, and/or replacing vehicle parts such as carburettors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, and pumps;
- Repairing or replacing broken/dysfunctional parts, such as pistons, rods, gears, valves & bearings;
- Performing tune-ups including conducting routine maintenance work including replacing fluids, spark plugs and lubricating parts to promote vehicle functionality and longevity;
- Diagnosing, repairing and replacing engine management and fuel injection components;
- Providing accurate estimates (cost, time, effort) for repairs and/or maintenance;
- Road testing vehicles to locate operational defects and effectiveness of repairs prior to returning to active use;
- Scheduling future maintenance sessions and advising customers on good vehicle care and use;
- Maintaining a clean and organised work area and adhering to workplace safety regulations;
- Maintaining equipment and tools in good condition and keeping logs on works and issues that may arise.
