These positions are based in the EPA’s Mount Gambier office.
About the Available Roles
Do you have an interest in the environment and want to be part of a team who helps ensure a sustainable future for all? The EPA has Multiple Positions available in our Mount Gambier (South East) office.
The positions available will be part of a small compliance team where you will contribute to the effective administration of authorisations under the Environment Protection Act 1993. Duties will include providing assistance, guidance and high-quality advice to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, particularly EPA licence holders, in relation to their environmental obligations.
The roles will undertake a wide range of environmental assessment and/or compliance matters with professional direction. The roles also include conducting regular inspections of licensed sites to assess compliance across the South East, Murraylands and Riverland. You will also contribute to the general administration of the South East office, including ensuring various statutory obligations and EPA requirements are met.
The roles require good skills in communication, time management, prioritising and an ability to follow guidance and instructions.

The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) is South Australia’s independent environment protection regulator. The organisation works to protect, restore and improve the environment through the risk-based regulation of pollution, waste, noise and radiation. The EPA works closely with industry, the community and government to protect the unique natural environment while supporting economic growth and improving wellbeing. The EPA is responsible for the administration of the Environment Protection Act 1993 (EP Act) and the Radiation Protection and Control Act 2021 (RPC Act) and also exercises responsibilities under other South Australian planning and environmental legislation.

Essential Qualifications
There are a range of positions available for applicants depending on their qualifications and experience. Please see below the two classification streams and what qualifications are required to be considered in each stream.
ASO: No essential qualification required.
PO: A degree in science, applied science, engineering, environmental management or equivalent.
Remuneration
ASO3 to ASO5 ($66,590 - $94,003 per annum) + 11% super to your choice of superfund.
PO1 to PO3 ($67,466 - $105,495 per annum) + 11% super to your choice of superfund.
Contracts Available
Long term contracts (until October 2025). Full time or part time contracts will be offered depending on what is available at the time.
Special Conditions
- Location: Mount Gambier SA (5290).
- Must be eligible to work in Australia.
- Some intrastate travel, including absence overnight, will be required.
- Out of hours work may be required as the need arises.
- A current driver’s licence is essential.
- Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.
