We are recruiting for multiple roles, immediate start in Moranbah, QLD.
1.Blast Supervisor
Reporting to the Project Manager, you'll be an enthusiastic mining professional on the lookout for a great opportunity to advance your career. Your role will involve leading a team of experienced drill and blast operators, promoting a proactive safety culture rooted in MAXAM core values, and empowering individuals to prioritize safety. Additionally, you'll align yourself with our ambitious strategies, demonstrating creativity and innovative thinking to optimize performance.
What You’ll do
- Provide direct supervision of the Blast operations and effectively allocate resources.
- Manage MSU / MPU operations on daily basis
- Communicate and deal with our customer regularly
- Maintain a safe operation ensuring statutory compliance whilst demonstrating visible safety leadership.
- Provide planning and leadership to co-ordinate Drill and Blast activities for the coal operations.
- Provide support, mentoring and monitor training of Drill and Blast crew.
- Lead safe, efficient, and effective blasting.
- Work towards cost optimization through the effective utilization and care of plant and personnel.
- Responsible for the effective leadership, training, and development of the Blast Crew
- Ensure that blasting production targets and efficiencies are maximized and carried out in a cost-effective manner.
About You
As the successful applicant, you will be a high achieving and team focused individual with a focus on building a solid collaborative and high performing culture within your work team. You will have extensive experience in open cut coal mining with a drive to deliver results.
- Previous experience in a similar role is essential
- Demonstrated mining experience including supervision of Drill and Blast
- Ability to pass Coal Board Medical
- QLD Shotfirers ticket will be highly regarded
- Demonstrated experience leading a high-performing team
- Ability to effectively establish and maintain influential relationships with internal and external stakeholders

2. MSU / MPU Operator
Reporting to the Site Supervisor, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of day to day blasting services, operation of loading hoses and stemming of drill holes. The role can be physically demanding, working in various extreme weather conditions.
About the successful applicant
To be successful in the role you must be highly motivated with a keen eye for detail and a positive attitude towards safety, training and the environment.
It will be looked upon favorably if you have a mechanical background and have the ability to troubleshoot and perform basic maintenance on the MSU. Prior blasting experience and qualifications is preferred but not essential. Ideally you will hold current licenses in the following:
- HR Driver's License or an Open Manual Driver's License
- Dangerous Goods License
- Explosives Security Clearance
Due to the nature of the role the successful applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical (including drug and alcohol screening) and be able to obtain and maintain relevant clearances such as a National Police Clearance.

3. Heavy Vehicle Mechanic
POSITION SUMMARY
- Maintenance on Volvo, Forklift, and other equipment
- Undertake repairs and servicing in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications and requirements.
- Work effectively with the maintenance team to achieve the maintenance plan.
- Work to priorities as advised by Site Manager.
- Work with Site Manager to ensure quality maintenance performance, including asset availability.
REQUIREMENTS
- Trade qualifications in Certificate III in either Heavy Vehicle Mechanical or Automotive Electrical Technology
- Previous experience in the maintenance of heavy road vehicles and plant equipment.
- Sound mechanical / electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic aptitude.
- Experience in fixed manufacturing plant maintenance within a preference in the explosive industry.
- Experience in, fault finding and working understanding of low voltage electrical systems and automated safety control systems.
- Well-developed communication skills.
- Work Planning and scheduling skills.
- Current driver’s license
- Able to obtain a full relevant security clearance.
DESIRABLE
- Experience working on medium to large sites.
- Experience in the maintenance of explosive manufacturing plant processing unit’s operational safety control systems.
- Forklift License

4. Yard Hand
You will have the ability to work autonomously and assist the site in complying with and improving systems, ensuring a smooth and effortless process. You will be a committed team player with a strong emphasis on safety, customer service and achieving results. You will also have the following:
- Current HR - MC driver's license and experience (essential)
- Current Forklift license and experience (essential)
- Extensive experience in commercial truck driving
- Knowledge of loading / unloading with load restraint procedure
- Knowledge of DG classes and segregation preferred
- Dangerous Goods License
- Security Sensitive Ammonium Nitrate (SSAN) Clearance (QLD)
- Ability to pass a D&A Test, Physical
