Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) is now recruiting for an MQ-28 Remote Pilot.
As an experienced military aircrew member with fast/large jet operational experience and/or extensive large Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) operational experience, you will join the Boeing Test and Evaluation (BT&E-Aus) team as a Remote Pilot for Boeing's MQ-28 Ghost Bat Program.
The MQ-28 System represents the future of Australian and International military aviation, complementing both manned aircraft and other unmanned/autonomous weapon systems. Your efforts will contribute to an Australian designed, built and operated autonomous system that is destined to change the nature of military capability.
As an MQ-28 Remote Pilot, you will:
- Utilise your experience as an experienced military aviator and your knowledge of complex airborne systems, sensors and weapons to directly shape the development of Boeing's MQ‑28 autonomous system.
- Accept a rare opportunity to play an instrumental role in a leading edge first-of-type developmental flight test program.
- Adopt a diverse and challenging role with an industry leader.
- Position yourself for a future capability development role within Boeing.
The Company:
BDA is the premiere provider of military capability to the Australian Defence Force (ADF). BDA actively manages the sustainment and operation of multiple aviation platforms across the ADF, including F/A-18, P-8, and Chinook.
The Role: As an MQ-28A Remote Pilot within BT&E-Aus, you will play a critical role in the end to end development and test of an advanced unmanned autonomous system. You will be directly in control of the air vehicle during ground and flight test activities, and therefore play a central role in the team's success. Your experience in operating jet aircraft in contemporary military environments makes you an ideal candidate for joining our team in this pivotal role. The role is based in South East Queensland, focused on RAAF Base Amberley; however, locational flexibility could be accommodated for the right candidate.
Specific elements of the role include:
- Guiding the development of the MQ-28 autonomous system for the Australian military
- Operate the MQ-28 during developmental/production ground and flight test
- Assist in the development of critical capability tools to support the MQ-28 system.
- Create flight/mission plans and coordinate with team members to ensure test and safety objectives are satisfied.
- Evaluate system performance and human factors characteristics to ensure MQ-28 capability objectives are satisfied.
- Utilise leading-edge simulation tools to conduct advanced concepts analysis.
- Provide advice to stakeholders to ensure airworthiness criteria are satisfied.
- Provide advice to stakeholders regarding the operational employment of Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA).
- Support the training and instruction of customer aircrew for the MQ-28 system.
About You: You are an experienced military aviator, with the right attributes to work within a leading-edge environment that is inventing the future. You are a highly competent aviation specialist within your field, an innovator, a strong collaborator and a problem solver. You will also bring other attributes, such as a broad experience of aircraft types, sensors, weapons and unmanned platforms and developmental/acceptance/operational test experience. Are you up for the challenge?
Please note that applicants must be Australian Citizens in order to meet Defence security clearance requirements. A current Security Clearance is highly desirable. More information on the security clearance vetting process is available on the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) website.
