As the Mid-Western Region continues to grow and prosper at a steady rate, Council now employs over 400 staff members and has an exciting opportunity for a full time MR Maintenance Truck Driver to drive Council’s medium rigid Maintenance Trucks and undertake maintenance works, construction works and other related infrastructure works. Key Accountabilities To drive Council’s MR trucks and undertake road maintenance, construction and other related infrastructure. Act as a Team Leader, as required, on road maintenance or construction works. Operate any Council vehicle/plant item in a safe and careful manner in accordance with relevant laws. To follow direction and instruction from Work Officers to undertake duties associated with road maintenance and construction and perform other duties associated with the position including labouring duties. To periodically undertake out of hours (on call) duties. Complete daily pre-start checklist of plant to required safety standards and roadworthiness. Ensure daily and weekly maintenance of plant is carried out as required including keeping tidy and serviceable. To work as part of a maintenance or construction team as required. To undertake traffic control at worksites – including erection of safety signage and safety barriers. Participation in positive two-way radio (UHF) communication as required. Report all vehicle/plant defects immediately if damage/safety is involved. To actively promote and demonstrate the core values and behavioural requirements of the Workplace Environment Statement. To be successful in this role you will have Current MR Drivers Licence; Two years’ experience driving MR Trucks ; Competent in problem solving skills; Ability to work autonomously with good time management; General Construction Induction Card (White Card); Competent skills in undertaking manual tasks associated with road maintenance and construction work; Competent skills in maintaining truck in a tidy and serviceable condition; Basic interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team; Basic communication skills (oral and written); Ability to carry out instructions; and Knowledge of workplace health and safety (WHS) responsibilities and a commitment to attending relevant WHS training. The salary range being offered for the position of MR Maintenance Truck Driver is $2146 - $2416 per fortnight (dependent on skills, qualifications and experience) plus superannuation and allowances, a 9 day fortnight and long service leave after 5 years.
