About the OpportunityApplications are invited for an exciting opportunity for a full-time Multi-Disciplinary Laboratory Scientist to join their Toowoomba Laboratories, working as part of a rotating 24 hour roster, which attracts significant penalty rates and the possibility of an additional 5 days annual leave.The main aim of this varied role is to perform medical laboratory tests to provide advice for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases and other disorders. Duties may include
- Performing a range of diagnostic medical laboratory techniques;
- Performing all tasks relevant to a particular scientific shift or a particular section of the laboratory as specified in departmental manuals;
- Upholding quality standards within the laboratory by adhering to departmental quality system procedures;
- Complying with the occupational health and safety policy and programs to ensure personal health and safety, and the health of safety of others in the workplace; and
- Satisfying the requirements of customers both internal and external through the provision of reliable and efficient service levels.
- This is a challenging role which offers the development of a broad skills base and allows the scientist to develop closer working relationships with medical and nursing staff.
About YouThe successful candidate will hold a relevant tertiary qualification in medical laboratory science or equivalent, with demonstrated knowledge of Haematology, Coagulation, Biochemistry, Immunohaematology and Microbiology disciplines.
You will also:- Be an enthusiastic, self-motivated person, with comprehensive understanding of a pathology laboratory operation in conjunction with accreditation requirements;
- Have a high level of interpersonal skills, high level organisational skills and a commitment to customer service;
- Display problem-solving ability, along with effective communication/interpersonal skills; and
- Have the ability to proactively work autonomously and within a team, while focussing on providing timely and accurate results for our referrers within a busy regional laboratory.
