The opportunity
We are looking for a Multimedia Manager & Multimedia Producer to join our Communications Branch.
As the Multimedia Manager (EL1) you will manage a small team responsible for the audio visual content of the department. You will think strategically about content across both online and internal channels. You will manage the department's audio visual equipment and manage work requests for photography, videography and animation. You will be responsible for creating rich visual content for PM&C's social media platforms and websites.
As a Multimedia Officer (APS Level 6) you think holistically about content across both online and internal channels. You will be responsible for creating rich visual content for PM&C's social media platforms and websites. You will work collaboratively with colleagues and clients to ideate, storyboard, shoot, edit and produce high quality video stories and images for internal and external audiences. You will work closely with content and channel strategists to ensure all content is fit-for-purpose. This role requires managing tight deadlines and ensuring accessibility and quality standards are met. To drive continual improvement you will be required to analyse and report on video consumption and engagement trends by PM&C audiences using departmental tools, and communicate these to colleagues and clients. You will be required to negotiate and liaise with stakeholders to ensure a positive client service experience, and to resolve conflict in difficult cases.
In these roles you will be responsible for:
  • Equipment: Responsible for managing, maintaining and purchasing audio visual equipment.
  • Photography: Use photography to support content creation across the department.
  • Videography: Work with stakeholders to conceptualise, film and edit videos for use both internally and on our external channels.
  • Animation: Use Adobe After Effects to create basic animations for use on our digital channels.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Have a strong client focus, developing networks both internally and externally.
  • Process, development and strategy: Support the ongoing work of the branch including records and information management, and ensure accessibility and quality standards are met. Manage multimedia libraries, project files and video channels.
The Multimedia Manager will also be responsible for:
  • Staffing: Manage a small team of Multimedia Officers.
These roles are based in Canberra and may involve out of hours work when required.
A merit pool may be established and used to fill the same or similar vacancies for 18 months from the date of advertising.

We are looking for a team member who has passion and drive and exciting ideas for how we can engage online. You will join a friendly, collaborative, supportive and open team where your input and ideas will be valued.
Our ideal candidate will be able to manage content from ideation to publishing and evaluation, while working across competing priorities and different policy areas. You will have:
  • 3-6 years experience working in a video producer/photographer role and ideally a tertiary qualification in communications, media, marketing or similar.
  • Experience creating content for social media and website platforms.
  • Strong experience in operating video and lighting equipment.
  • Highly developed technical skills and proficient in Creative Cloud, with 'proficient in the use of the Adobe suite of products.
  • Experience planning, developing and implementing audio-visual content and know how to target audiences with effective messaging.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, client liaison and time management skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage different processes, platforms and priorities.
  • Comfortable in a dynamic, fast moving workplace.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver products to brief and to agreed timeframes.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise, use judgement to escalate emerging risks, and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Understanding of, or ability to learn and apply, Australian Government accessibility requirements for video.
  • An ability to work independently, exercising sound judgment in decision making and task execution.
  • Specific to Multimedia Manager role: strong leadership skills and experience managing a multi-disciplinary team.
