About Redkite and Cancer Hub

When a child is diagnosed with cancer, it affects the whole family. In the daunting and unpredictable experience that follows diagnosis, a child needs as much stability and support from their family as possible. Redkite is a lifeline for families, providing real emotional, financial and practical support. Because holding it together when your child’s life is in question can feel impossible.

Cancer Hub is a digital one stop shop helping families impacted by cancer (with children aged 0-25) more easily access the practical and emotional support they need. Cancer Hub is a collaboration between Canteen, Camp Quality and Redkite. The successful candidate will be employed by Redkite but will work within the Cancer Hub and will predominantly focus on supporting Redkite families.

The Role:

As a National Intake Clinician (NIC), you will be the first point of contact for individuals and families accessing Cancer Hub services. Your role is crucial in conducting assessments, providing initial interventions, and coordinating referrals to ensure timely support. You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver compassionate care and uphold our commitment to excellence.

Due to the nature of the role hours of work will be 10am- 6pm (AEST/AEDT). You will also be required to (very) occasionally work weekends and evenings. Advance notice will be given when this is the case, and Redkite does have a Time off in Lieu policy for taking leave as agreed with the supervising manager.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct intake assessments and triage via telephone or virtual platforms.

• Provide information about Cancer Hub services and deliver short-term interventions as needed.

• Adhere to intake procedures, policies, and referral pathways.

• Maintain accurate records in the client management system.

• Respond promptly to ad-hoc chat requests and engage in ongoing professional development.

• Foster relationships with stakeholders including Alliance Partners and external agencies.

• Attend and contribute to meetings with Alliance Partners to support service integration.

• Participate actively in team meetings, supervision sessions, and professional development activities.

• Collaborate across Cancer Hub, Canteen, Camp Quality, and Redkite to share best practices.

• Support the development and implementation of intake-related policies and procedures.

• Adhere to organizational values, standards, and guidelines in mental health service delivery.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Occupational Therapy, or Nursing.

• Registration or eligibility for registration with relevant professional bodies (e.g., AHPRA, AASW, ACA, PACFA, OTA, APS).

• Experience in intake roles or similar positions, preferably in healthcare or social services.

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

• Proficiency in MS Office suite and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce).

• Commitment to delivering client-centered care and upholding organizational values.
