Your New Role
You can expect to represent respondent parties in a majority of the native tile claims in Queensland and NSW and regularly provide advice to local governments and government corporations, developers, pastoral holders and other public and private entities on the Native Title and Aboriginal cultural heritage implications of government and private infrastructure projects.
The team undertakes a wide range of work and as a lawyer in the team you can expect to gain exposure to a broad variety of work, including:
- Advising clients on legislative requirements and compliance options relating to Native Title and cultural heritage;
- Appearing in Federal Court convened mediations and case management hearings;
- Undertaking due diligence and assessment advice; and
- Assisting with negotiations relating to indigenous land use agreements and cultural heritage agreements.

- 1 - 4 years PAE;
- An understanding of Native Title and cultural heritage legislation;
- Be comfortable working closely with clients and Traditional Owners;
- Be interested in solving novel legal issues;
- Capable of juggling multiple matters and prioritising effectively;
- Have the ability or desire to run with matters with the assistance of a partner, as required;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Self-driven and able to meet deadlines;
- Willingness to undertake pro-bono work, as required;
- Enjoy working in a team environment; and
- Travel, when necessary, for meetings or on-country court appearances.
