The role

Naval Combat Systems (NCS) predominantly delivers Combat Systems solutions, including the 9LV Combat Management System, which continually evolves to meet customer needs. Being complex systems, it takes considerable time to build up the appropriate level of skills and knowledge. The NCS Technical Learning Partner is responsible for coordinating and/or developing/delivering training and other learning solutions to continually uplift the technical capabilities of people and teams within Naval Combat Systems group.

The NCS Technical Learning Partner will be responsible for assessing skills shortages/knowledge and ensuring appropriate training is identified and/or designed/delivered in accordance with high quality standards, best practise and leveraging advanced technology where feasible.

Further, the successful candidate will:

  • Work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and technical leads to identify and assess the training needs of the Maritime group through gap analysis between current workforce and projected work.
  • Assess skills gaps within Maritime engineering teams and identify appropriate training to fill the gaps.
  • Design and maintain ongoing capability training; including review and refresh of training and assessment materials across Maritime training programs, ensuring appropriate consultation with SMEs.
  • Oversee the delivery of Specific Maritime Training and be able to facilitate learning outcomes.
  • Seek opportunities to review, uplift and monitor training effectiveness and devise innovative and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure trainee performance indicators are achieved.
  • Identify aspects of Training that could be outsourced to training delivery organisations

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and 9 day fortnight will be considered for this role.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Experience in the analysis, design, development and evaluation of Training solutions
  • Experience in training and development management
  • Experience in delivery of training programs
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Track record in developing and executing successful training programs
  • Familiar with traditional and modern training processes
  • Experience working within a team environment


As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearance.
