Job Description
Bring your talent and skills to Motorola Solutions, as part of the Melbourne Design Centre team, as one of our talented engineers, you will be a key member of the R&D organization responsible for developing and delivering our PSCore mobile application the next-generation mobile products that allow first responders to respond effectively in mission-critical operating environments and keep our communities safer.
Among many other achievements, last year PSCore was delivered to one of our prestigious customers as a world-first iOS public safety mobile app integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
In this .Net FullStack Software Engineering role you will be contributing to developing our public safety platform along with a team of senior engineers using technologies such as iOS/Swift, Android/Kotlin, HTML/React, Typescript, and Azure services having C# and .NET as your primary focus
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate closely with your team to develop, maintain, and support core platforms and applications
Build quality by integrating early, participating in code reviews, and ensuring their high test coverage
Proactively reduce technical debt by aggressively refactoring code
Develop highly secure applications by following defense in depth principles
Ensure code is extensible and maintainable by following leading architectural principles and patterns
Automate everything, contribute to tooling, and manage CI/CD pipelines
Actively monitor services, respond to incidents, and contribute to post-incident reviews
Contribute to a continuous learning culture by participating in training and workshops, bringing ideas to the table, and creating learning opportunities
Help drive continuous improvement by actively identifying improvements, participating in retrospectives, and contributing to key metrics
Focus on customers by asking the right questions, solving the right problem, and designing great experiences
Help drive engineering best practices and initiatives
Basic Requirements
GENERAL EDUCATION
Nice to have:
Tertiary-level computer science or software engineering
Certificates in software or cloud technologies
Certificates in Agile
Practical software engineering, design, and architecture experience
Application of OOP concepts and design patterns
A polyglot with core strength in C#
Understanding of database systems - RDBMS, DocumentDb, etc., and their architectures
RESTful designs
TDD, BDD, ATTD
Package management (NuGet, npm, etc)
Cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or Google Cloud
Containerization (Docker, Swarm, Kubernetes)
CI/CD pipelines & Configuration Management
Git and associated tools, platforms, and practices
Agile methodologies (Scrum)
Experience with other languages/tech stacks
Willingness to learn new technologies, i.e. iOS/Swift
Experience with CI/CD automation and cloud deployments
EXPERIENCE
1+ years in Software Engineering
1+ years working in an Agile environment
Experience working with distributed systems following microservices architecture.
Ability to work well and collaboratively in an Agile environment focusing on communication
Open to failure, to ask questions, and to grow and learn from mistakes
Ability to research, POC, and learn new technologies rapidly
Creative, with the ability to generate and evaluate multiple solutions
Pragmatic, understanding the impact of new technology
