The Opportunity
As our full time permanent Network Engineer, you’ll support our progressive and authentic firm as we champion what’s right. Reporting to the General Manager, Cyber Security and IT Operations, and based out of our Brisbanehead office, your focus will be to design, install, secure, maintain, and optimise Shine’s data network.
Working closely with our Infrastructure team, as well as Cybersecurity, Applications and external vendors, you’ll ensure our applications and infrastructure operate effectively over the Shine data network, upgrading and securing the network infrastructure where required. We’ll rely on you to make recommendations on network improvement opportunities, through regular network capacity review and planning, and you’ll develop high level and detailed technical network designs to support this.
You’ll provide day to day operational support of the data network, providing level 2 and 3 troubleshooting and support, and upskill and mentor our Infrastructure and Service desk teams on your area of expertise. You’ll also manage relationships with our network and carriage vendors, ensuring they meet their contractual commitments.
What you’ll bring. To thrive in this role, you’ll have:
- Significant demonstrated experience supporting large complex environments.
- Demonstrated understanding of Incident/Problem management, Change Control and ITIL best practice principles.
- Demonstrated understanding of hardware, software, applications, networks, and communications technologies
- Demonstrated experience in supporting hybrid cloud network infrastructure
- Intermediate knowledge of firewalls, VPN, switching, routing, and wireless from major vendors including PaloAlto, Meraki, Cisco and Juniper
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft networking including DNS, DHCP and NPS (RADIUS)
- Intermediate knowledge of Azure networking including Azure ExpressRoute, VNet peering, Load balancers, Application Gateways, Web application firewalls and network routing
- Intermediate knowledge of Telecommunications technologies (carriage, NBN access technologies)
- General knowledge of Windows Desktop, Server, and Application troubleshooting
- General knowledge of network intrusion techniques and methods of prevention
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Able to organize and prioritize your own work, work independently and mutlitask
- Strong customer service skills, with strong focus and very high attention to detail
- Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or similar will be highly regarded
- Network (CCNA/CCNP), Firewall (PCCET/PCNSA) or Microsoft Azure (AZ-700) are highly desirable
