Job Description
The Network Engineer role is to ensure the smooth operation of the Core network environment and act as an escalation point for operational team members.
The duties include, but are not limited to:
- Deploy new or migrate existing services onto newly installed infrastructure.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of faults and enquiries.
- Undertake ownership of, troubleshoot and resolve complex and escalated errors and interruptions to the network.
- Document and maintain network infrastructure and configuration.
- Work with and mentor junior, operations and support resources
- Drive optimal network performance through continuous monitoring, reporting and diagnostics.
- Develop and undertake lab testing, fault finding and streamlining of network systems, technology, and hardware.
- Develop software-defined configurations for network appliances and hardware, maximising standardisation across the equipment fleet.
- Adhere to all company and workplace health and safety guidelines.
- Participate in the 24x7 on-call roster system (if required).
- Respond to “P1” outages as an escalation point (when required)
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications or experience:
- Strong experience in networking or IT related role.
- Sound knowledge of IPv4 and IPv6 networks.
- Sound understanding of ethernet switching technologies.
- Sound understanding of IP routing and forwarding.
- Sound understanding of wireless technologies, radio frequencies and coverage zones
- Strong customer service ethic and communication skills.
- Drivers license and ability to travel.
- Ability to meet WH&S requirements as stipulated by the organisation or our customers - such as vaccinations, white card, children & police checks or other reasonable licenses.
- Desirable - Degree in IT, Computer Science or equivalent experience to the same level.
- Desirable - Industry certifications CCNA, JNCIA or equivalent certification experience.
