About the role
We’re seeking a Network Environment Specialist to be responsible for monitoring, auditing, evaluating and reporting on activities occurring in or impacting upon the road and tunnel network, including roadworks, vegetation, air, noise and water quality and maintenance. This is a 12 months’ fixed term position with the possibility of it being extended.

Day-to-day, you will:
You’ll undertake day-to-day implementation of the Environmental Management System to ensure compliance with environmental legislation and operational phase environmental obligations
You’ll provide technical advice on all aspects of environmental management, with a specialty focus on ventilation air quality and open road environmental assurance.
You’ll undertake HSE and Environmental assurance inspections of service providers and to monitor asset condition and environmental performance.
You’ll support key network maintenance activities and attend nightshift maintenance closures on a periodic basis
This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:
You’ll have degree level qualifications in Environmental Science/Engineering or related field
You’ll have a minimum 3 years’ experience or demonstrated ability within an environmental role
You’ll have an open driver’s license
You’ll have strong analytical, reporting and verbal communication skills
Great communication and interpersonal skills – ability to interact with a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels
