Arc Infrastructure manages and develops transport infrastructure assets that support growth and create jobs in WA. Rail is at the heart of our business, and the 5,500km rail network is the backbone of freight transport in Western Australia from the diverse Midwest across to the fascinating Goldfields and Yilgarn regions through to the stunning South West and Great Southern. We are currently looking for a Network Operations Possession Planner to join our team on a full time basis.

The Role

In this role your primary purpose will be to optimise opportunities for access to track for asset maintenance and Capital project delivery whilst minimising the impact on train operations throughout the Arc network.

Some of the key duties include: 

  • Advising asset maintainers and other project delivery entities of optimum opportunities to undertake infrastructure works and ensure planned possessions do not exceed tolerable limits
  • Negotiating with Above Rail Operators, Customers, other Third Parties, and internally to identify appropriate track windows; agree and implement subsequent alterations to train timetables in order to facilitate proposed track works
  • Liaising with neighbouring Rail Infrastructure Managers to negotiate train path continuity of amended train paths to ensure the efficient planning of Arc's customers services across boundaries
  • Collaborating with Arc's Technology team to develop reports relating to project involvement and maintain filing system of detailed working records and correspondence for all possession planning work and project work undertaken
  • Monitoring track possessions and their impact on train running, and recommending changes as required to improve Arc's Possession Planning and Approval Process

About You

To be successful in this role we need you to have

  • A detailed understanding of train planning, including typical customer and above rail operator requirements
  • Comprehensive understanding on the delivery of track works, including major project work
  • Strong customer service focus, advanced verbal, interpersonal and negotiating skills.
  • Demonstrated competence in using computers, information management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good working knowledge of train operator requirements (above rail requirements).
  • Experience in the use of software applications used in train planning activities.
  • A working knowledge of existing rail schedules and infrastructure across the Arc network
