We have a brand new 32-room hotel to open in the heart of Byron Bay early June 2024. We’re looking for a Night Duty Manager to work alongside the hotels GM and Duty Managers to navigate the hotels opening phase and then seeing the hotel through to being fully stable and highly profitable.
This is a full-time salaried role. Salary by negotiation and commensurate with relevant experience. We have all the required IP for this role in-house, so are open to leaders looking to make non-linear career moves. The Night Duty Manager is responsible for all Front and Back of House after hours. This role works very closely with the GM and the hotel management company (JEREMY & JONES).
Commencement date: June 2024.

As our part-time Night Manager, you will be leading our overnight Hotel operations. You’ll be responsible for financial reconciliations, guest feedback & problem resolution whilst meeting brand & cleanliness standards. In the absence of senior leadership overnight, you hold the keys.
Duties & responsibilities
- A night person, who enjoys working alone, with the ability to work from 10pm to 6am.
- Previous experience within a service industry, ideally with a good understanding of finance and accounting practices.
- Exceptional communication skills and a service excellence approach.
- A keen eye for detail.
- You possess a second sight when it comes to reading unexpected situations and problem-solving.
- Thrive under pressure, if an emergency comes up, you remain in control and support the team to get through it.
- Willingness to take ownership and initiative to carry out different tasks as required.
- Prior experience with property management systems; RMS and Lightspeed is a bonus.
- First Aid and Approved Manager qualified, or willing to get if you are successful
- Assist guests with reservation enquiries and think outside the box to make their stay memorable.
- Be a House ambassador, positively representing Basq House at night on the phone, by email and at the reception desk.
- Assist with Housekeeping duties which can only be done overnight such as public area cleaning, laundry, etc.
Prerequisites
Our ideal candidate should be authentic, confident, and purpose driven - while being humble and nurturing at the same time. Authenticity across all touch-points will be key to the hotel's success.
The ideal candidate is a highly intelligent hotel professional with outstanding management skills and hands-on experience. Available to work when needed, including weekends, holidays, and nights. Experience in opening, managing, or re-positioning a hotel or restaurant with clear track record. Excellent technology skills. At least 5 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, with luxury and international experience ideal.
