What you'll be doing
The Mental HealthClinical Nurse Consultant Grade 1 (CNC1) provides an expert Mental Health assessment and initial intervention service to individuals of all ages presenting to the Emergency Department (ED) at Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH).
The CNC will be responsible for conducting a comprehensive Mental Health assessment for persons presenting to the RNSH ED who are experiencing Mental Health issues, The CNC, in partnership with the ED staff and relevant Mental Health staff will determine a plan of care which may be discharge back to the community with clearly documented and communicated follow up or facilitate an admission to the Mental Health inpatient unit.
This position is being advertised as a permanent part time 16 hours per week. The position will work predominantly Thursday / Fridays night duties however the successful candidate will also be expected to work the occasional afternoon shift.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Current unrestricted registration with AHPRA as a registered nurses and at least 5 years full time equivalent post graduate experience and approved post registration nursing qualifications relevant to the clinical area.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate and lead evidence based nursing clinical practice in the assessment, care planning and care delivery of people with complex Mental Health issues in an acute setting.
- Proven ability to provide clinical leadership to Emergency Department and Generalist clinicians in the management of Mental Health patients with demonstrated high level ability to network and communicate across a range of internal and external key partners.
