Job description

Musgrave Hill Community Children’s Centre is a 75 place not for profit centre, located in the heart of Southport. We are a little centre with a beautiful soul and our yards overlook the leafy Musgrave Hill Park. 

We are a community centre run by a committed and passionate Management Committee, who only want the best for the centre, staff and children. Our centre is community focused and every moving part of the centre is vital to the harmony and happiness of the operation. 

We are looking for a brilliant Early Childhood Leader, someone that will nurture our team of long standing staff and create bonds with our beautiful families. We want someone to integrate themselves into our community and allow the centre to blossom and shine in its own right.

To be successful in this position, it is expected that you have:

  • Minimum - ACECQA approved Diploma of Children's Services or equivalent;
  • Previous experience in a Nominated Supervisor position in an Early Childhood Service or experience in a leadership position in an Early Childhood Service;
  • Current Blue Card;
  • Child Protection Training: Identifying and responding to children and young people at risk of harm;
  • Current First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis Certificates;
  • Through understanding of and commitment to exemplary practice of the EYLF, NQS CS Regulations and Law;
  • Understanding and ability to implement knowledge of WHS legislation;
  • Ability to program and provide high quality programs for all children;
  • Possess excellent verbal, and written communication skills;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of service’s requirements of the Child Care Subsidy (CCS);
  • The ability to manage and maintain centre software, family accounts/balances, rosters and HR software;
  • The ability to manage and maintain information held by families and staff for compliance;
  • Proven ability in all areas of administrative procedure, curriculum development, parent and community liaison, staff professional development and training, team leadership and management of staff (including conflict resolution, team building and implementing performance review processes);
  • A strong work ethic;
  • Hands on attitude for all components of the role.

Position Objectives:

  • Integrate yourself into the community by building and maintaining positive relationships with children, families, staff, and Management Committee to deliver best outcomes for families and children;
  • Work cohesively with the Management Committee and Staff on all aspects to ensure operational and centre wellbeing;
  • Develop and contribute to the educational program to provide a high-quality program for all children;
  • Manage the smooth running of the Centre in line with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures;
  • Oversee the Centre’s presentation both internally and externally;
  • Promote and market the service to increase utilisation, viability and manage the centre waiting list;
  • Positively influence and oversee improvement projects that meet agreed performance;
  • Drive, contribute to and influence organisational sustainability change and innovation through the adoption of contemporary systems, practices, processes, and behaviours.

KPI's:

  • Manage and maintain a minimum percentage occupancy rates for all rooms (the percentage may change depending on time of year and room ratios);
  • Manage and maintain accounts effectively to minimise debt to appropriate levels;
  • Create and implement 1 centre event monthly (with the assistance of Management Committee and Staff);
  • Construct and host 1 staff meeting quarterly (with the assistance of Management Committee);
  • Schedule and implement 1 staff training session per annum;
  • Schedule and implement 1 staff bonding event per annum; 
  • Organise and implement an activities schedule for the year (e.g. incursions and holiday themed activities).
