This is a Recruitment Pool for Permanent Full Time appointments.

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from this pool until 31/05/2025.

About this role

This position is responsible for leading and managing services to deliver evidence-based care for optimal patient outcomes within allocated resources; accountable for improving and maintaining standards and delivering outcomes consistent with service and organisational priorities; ensures the delivery of patient centred service against key performance indicators (KPIs), including quality, budget and human resources; provides a consultation and liaison service within their area of expertise to relevant internal and external customers.

This position reports to the Coordinator of Nursing Mental Health.

Area Profile

NMHS provides timely access to high quality health care, embracing acknowledged best practice to deliver improved clinical outcomes in the face of rising challenges for all healthcare providers. The NMHS comprises a mix of tertiary, specialist and generalist hospitals.  Our north metropolitan catchment area covers almost 1000 square kilometres. NMHS contains Western Australia’s largest Mental Health Service caring for youths, adults and older adults. Services are delivered through inpatient units, community Mental Health clinics and day therapy and outreach programs to a catchment area of almost 1 million people. State-wide and Tertiary Mental Health Services include research, forensics, neurosciences, art therapy, eating disorders and other specialised services.

Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) Mental Health Services comprise a Mental Health Unit (MHU) and Mental Health Observation Area (MHOA).

The Mental Health Unit (MHU) based at SCGH is a 30 bed Adult Mental Health Unit providing assessment and treatment for acute Mental Health conditions.

Services provided from the MHU include:

The MHOA is an 8 bed short term assessment and treatment unit for patients with Mental Health needs. Entry is via the Emergency Department.
