Nurse Practitioner - Wound Care


This is a Fixed Term Part Time appointment/s from 01/07/2024 until 29/06/2025 at 15.20 hours per fortnight, with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.

Position Profile: The Nurse Practitioner provides a clinical service in collaboration with other health professionals to diagnose, treat and manage a patient’s health status in accordance with National legislation. The Nurse Practitioner performs advanced physical assessment, orders diagnostic tests, interprets the results of these tests, initiates referrals to relevant health providers, and prescribes appropriate medications and other therapies as needed. The Nurse Practitioner provides clinical leadership as appropriate. The Nurse Practitioner practices within their scope of practice considerate of the Nursing and Midwifery Board’s Nursing Practice Decision Flowchart.

Ongoing credentialing to a scope of specialty practice is a requirement for all Nurse Practitioners.

Key requirements for the role include:

  • Functions independently and collaboratively as a Nurse Practitioner within the Inpatient and Outpatient setting performing advanced physical assessment; diagnostic testing and imaging, to formulate a diagnosis and management plan for a broad range of presentations requiring advanced wound assessment and management, within state and federal legislative framework.
  • Provides Senior clinical leadership and mentoring to the multidisciplinary team in relation to wound assessment and management, developing and maintaining policies, protocols and clinical practice guidelines to facilitate clinical practice and meet clinical governance requirements.
  • Liaises with the multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care to patients with complex wounds within the inpatient and community setting facilitating safe, quality patient flow.
