Nurse Unit Manager - Acute Aged Mental Health Unit
About the opportunity
Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) is the main provider of Mental Health services across the Gippsland region.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our mental health services team as Nurse Unit Manager to lead our Acute Aged Mental Health Unit.
Our Macalister Unit provides care for people over the age of 65 with mental health or behavioural issues. The unit has 10 acute assessment beds and 10 psychogeriatric nursing home beds.
About the role
The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) is responsible for managing, co-ordinating, leading and developing the unit, ensuring patient centred care, and the achievement of a high standard of quality patient outcomes.
The NUM has the responsibility and accountability for the overall operational and clinical management including budgets, targets and key performance indicators. The NUM will oversee and ensure AN-ACC claims are appropriate, accurate and matched to resident care needs in compliance with the aged Care and national standards.
About you
You will have a passion for mental health, a desire to make a real difference and be a skilled people leader with experience in effectively leading teams. You will also have experience and knowledge of the aged care system, requirements and legislation.
We are looking for candidates with:
- Registered Nurse (Division 1) with post basic qualifications in psychiatric nursing, holding current AHPRA registration
- Sound clinical knowledge, skills and a minimum of 5 years clinical experience
- Experience in an Aged Care Management role would be highly regarded
- Current knowledge on reporting and performance processes for Nursing Home under current legislation
- Sound knowledge of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 and other relevant legislation
- Previous experience in leadership and/or managing teams as well as experience with budgets
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to adapt to change
