Grow your career at Forest Products Commission!
The Forest Products Commission (FPC) is a Government Trading Entity with a big responsibility. We establish and manage pine plantations in the south west of Western Australia that provide timber for construction as well as for paper products and energy production. The timber is used to build new homes and there is a rapidly increasing demand for the environmental properties of wood in the construction of multi-storey buildings.
The trees we plant today will support construction projects in the future. Our plantations are all established from seedlings we produce at the FPC Nursery and Seed Centre in Manjimup. The Centre grows and delivers over 4 million seedlings annually and is a key component of the State’s Softwood Plantation Investment Program. It is supported by a long term breeding program that ensures the quality of our seedling are well suited to the needs of the industry and a changing climate.
About the role
The Nursery and Seed Centre Coordinator will undertake a tailored development plan with oversight by the current Manager Nursery and Seed to facilitate knowledge transfer and skill development. Successful completion of this development will result in the transition into the Nursery and Seed Manager role as part of our succession plan. The Nursery and Seed Manager role focusses on the management and leadership of the team responsible for delivering required outcomes, development and maintenance of the nursery, and works with internal and external research advisors to enhance the quality of seed products through new genetic deployment or improved technologies.
