Job description

The Townsville Hospital and Health Service are seeking an experienced and outcome driven Nursing Director to join the Infrastructure Officer for a temporary full-time role, commencing ASAP - 28/07/2024, with a possibility of an extension not exceeding 12 months.
The Infrastructure Office based at the Townsville University Hospital works with diverse stakeholders across the Hospital and Health Service, the local construction sector and allied service providers to deliver ‘value for money’ infrastructure outcomes that support excellence in health service delivery.

The Opportunity
In this role you will:

  • Demonstrate proficient clinical knowledge and leadership in an environment of change and evolution of service delivery.
  • Acts as clinical advisor advocate and represent clinical functionality requirements within redevelopment, capital works projects and space planning activities.
  • Provide support and mentoring to NUM – Clinical Project Officer, Redevelopment Team and Infrastructure Project Manager positions.
  • Participate and support Corporate Divisions and Service Groups in the development and review of health planning activities including:
  • Models of care
  • Models of service delivery
  • Business Cases
  • Functional briefs
  • Facility design
  • Application of the Australasian Health Facilities guidelines and Queensland Health Standard Design Process
  • Effectively support space management processes (space utilisation / refurbishment / redesign). Analyse space utilisation and workflows, maximise the efficient use of clinical, clinical support and non-clinical support spaces.
  • Effectively support the selection, scheduling, specification and standardisation of furniture, fittings and equipment items required to support Townsville Hospital and Health Service service delivery.
  • Effectively support organisational change management processes including operational readiness / space commissioning and decant activities.
  • Advanced leadership and negotiation skills to enhance working relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team. Utilising a high level of communication skills for strategic and operational planning, problem solving and decision making.
  • Extract information for decision making through the use of appropriate communication skills and demonstrated problem solving and decision-making techniques.

with the possibility of an extension, not exceeding 12 months
Role requirements
  • Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
  • Highly Desirable: Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field is highly desirable. Such experience may be discipline specific or have a service area focus.
  • On call: Appointees may be required to participate in an on-call roster.
  • The applicant ideally will have a working knowledge of a range of software packages used in the clinical and management environment, including the Microsoft Windows, Excel, Access, Matrix and Power Point.
  • Travel: Please note, from time-to-time this position will be required to travel to, and work at, other facilities located within the Rural Hospitals Service Group network to participate in meetings for planning, quality, performance, training and education, or clinical activities. This may involve day and/or overnight stays. Travel on small planes (light aircraft) or ferry may be required. The successful applicant/s will need to be able to commit to this requirement.
