About the role The Nutrition Assistant assists with the provision of nutrition care for patients by working closely with dietitians, other health care staff and food services. Nutrition Assistants work within established procedures and guidelines to perform duties related to meal and mid-meal provision including collation of information and participation in quality improvement activities. About you Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following: Basic knowledge of hospital food service systems and the ability to acquire knowledge in the principles of nutrition, therapeutic application, and food safety compliance requirements. Sound computer literacy skills, including basic knowledge of medical and nutrition terminology. Effective organisation skills including the ability to complete work schedules within timeframes and meet service deadlines, whilst remaining flexible to respond to changing needs. Sound communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively as a team member in a multidisciplinary health setting, including a good understanding of own scope of practice in complex work environment. Understands, contributes to and accurately follows quality systems and procedures. Mandatory Requirements: There are no mandatory qualifications required for the position. Successful completion of a recognised Allied Health Assistant training course or higher degree is highly desirable e.g., Certificate IV Allied Health Assistance (Nutrition and Dietetics), Bachelor Degree (Nutrition). Food Safety Supervisors certificate or equivalent is desirable.
