Overview of the role

Applications are now open for a Occupational Hygiene Technician to join the Safety, Health and Hygiene team. Reporting to the Site Occupational Hygienist, the successful candidate will support reviews of exposure risk profiles by undertaking monitoring and sampling of workgroups across site.

Your attention to detail and time management skillswill enable you to meet monitoring targets within determined schedules. Having a flexible approach to your work will help you meet monitoring targets with consideration of emerging work and competing priorities, while supporting departments in hazard identification and risk management processes.

This is a residential role, based in Port Pirie, South Australia on a Monday to Friday roster. Relocation assistance will be provided to the successful candidate if required.

Key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical advice to the site including subject matter expertise in assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Work co-operativly with the SHH team and ensure effectiveness of team function to meet identified goals and targets.
  • Undertake monitoring and sampling whilemeeting the targets within planned schedules
  • Doccumenting activities and observations relating to monitoring and sampling in the workplace
  • Entering results and data associated with monitoring and sampling into spread sheets and data management systms with a high degree of accuracy
  • Providing suport in the preparation and delivery of reports detailing the findings of monitoring and sampling
  • Ensure that a proactive approach is taken to identify and eliminate and safety hazards and potential incidents.

Qualifications, Skills & Experiences:

Essential:

  • Successful completion of Year 12
  • Practical experience in the workplace

Desirable:

  • Good computer literacy including MS office in particular Excel
  • Analytical and problem solving skills and high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal and people skills
  • Ability to work effectively managing multiple tasks and accommodate changing priorities.
