Occupational Therapist to work in a temporary full-time role in an initial contract until December 2024.As a member of the Occupational Therapy team, you will provide patient centred, evidence based clinical care in oncology and palliative care inpatient and outpatient settings.The Occupational Therapy department at Mater Health provides public and private health services across a range of clinical specialties. These include general medical, general surgical, orthopaedics, neurosciences, cancer care, lymphoedema, psychosocial/mental health and neonatology and paediatrics. The team encompasses both
Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants and deliver services within inpatient, outpatient and telehealth settings.Salary range: $40.65 - $54.43 (Health Practitioner Level 3) per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900
What you'll be doing- Independently undertake routine clinical practice within established clinical protocols to achieve patient focused outcomes
- Apply increasing clinical judgement to more complex cases under clinical practice supervision
- Provide delegation, supervision, training and support to less experienced health practitioners, allied health assistants, students, support staff and volunteers in the delivery of clinical services
- Actively participate in professional and multidisciplinary teams, and liaise with patients, their families/carers and external agencies to facilitate patient centred care
About youYou will hold a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy or Master of Occupational Therapy and be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and eligible to receive a Medicare provider number.Skills, Knowledge and Experience we are looking for include:
- Demonstrated knowledge, expertise and skill in delivering assessment and intervention in the acute oncology and palliative care clinical area of occupational therapy. Lymphoedema skills desirable, but not essential.
- Demonstrated ability to apply occupational therapy principles to occupational therapy clinical services in an acute hospital environment.
- Flexibility to work across other acute hospital areas (e.g. orthopaedics, general medical)
- Demonstrated clinical practice and application of clinical judgement in the provision of high quality, evidence based, patient centred care
- Effective communication skills and demonstrated ability to work co-operatively with profession and multi-disciplinary teams, patients and carers to achieve optimal outcomes
- Demonstrated ability or ability to rapidly acquire skills to identify, develop and participate in quality and service improvement activities that improve clinical services and patient outcomes
