The Role
An opportunity has become available for an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist - Advanced (Hand Therapy) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
- Provide specialist Hand Therapy clinical services, professional judgement, complex clinical reasoning and evidence based practice
- Evaluate the quality of the Hand Therapy clinical practice within the multi-disciplinary team through state and national practice audits
- Engage in advanced practice including independently referring for diagnostic imaging as required to support patient assessment and case management
- Apply well-developed communication, consultative and interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients, families/carers, multi-disciplinary team members
About you
To be successful in this position you will require:
- A tertiary degree in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy
- AHPRA Registration
- While not mandatory, Australian Hand Therapy Association full membership, Certified Hand Therapist Qualification or relevant post graduate qualification would be well regarded
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
- Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary
- Temporary part time (12 months with the possibility of extension, 30.4 hours per fortnight)
- Base salary ranging from $70.99 - $74.07 per hour

The Primary Contact Hand Therapy (PC-HT) model of care aims to improve patient outcomes and improve service outcomes through the implementation of specialist, evidence based, therapist led care and waitlist management. It involves assessing the patient's presenting condition and using complex clinical reasoning to determine diagnosis and appropriate management (with medical input as required and appropriate).
