This is a permanent, full time vacancy.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Melaleuca Women’s Prison is a maximum-security prison for women and is the remand, receival and assessment facility for the metropolitan area, including long term remand prisoners from regional areas. The Prison recognizes the unique needs of women in custody such as their poor health, poor family contact, substance misuse, histories of abuse, low levels of education and employment and their social dislocation. As a result, Melaleuca provides a supportive custodial environment which is responsive to these complex needs. 

The Official Interviews Officer coordinates all official visits to the prison as per legislative requirements and Departmental policies.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Possess a current valid manual class “C” motor vehicle driving licence.
  • Possess a current valid Provide First Aid (HLTAID003) accreditation (or equivalent eg Senior First Aid) received from an accredited training provider with a minimum of twelve (12) months validity remaining.

Subsequent Vacancies

Applicants found suitable but not recommended for this vacancy, may be considered for subsequent similar vacancies in the Department of Justice for a period of twelve (12) months, in accordance with Part 5 (General Appointment) of the Commissioner's Instructions No. 2: Filling a Public Sector Vacancy and Commissioner’s Instructions No. 39: Interim Arrangements to Fill Public Sector Vacancies.
