The incoming OHS Coordinator will join a collaborative team of 7 OHS professionals and report into the OHS Team Manager. This position requires an individual who is committed to promoting safety and has a thorough, demonstrated understanding of Australian safety legislation. The ideal candidate will have experience delivering end to end safety in a strategic based role.
Responsibilities
- You will advise, assist and support other staff, Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) and members in relation to occupational health and safety matters including occupational violence & aggression matters, workers compensation, return to work and fitness for work.
- You will assist with developing and implementing policy and programs in a team environment to proactively prevent and manage occupational injuries and illnesses
- You will assist in the development, co-ordination and delivery of OHS conferences and seminars.
- You will conduct workplace inspections & audits and make WorkSafe service requests.
- You will actively recruit and educate HSRs in the workplace.
- You will represent the organisation in relevant forums on OHS and Workcover matters as directed and participate in Branch activities designed to improve member services and employment conditions, particularly health and safety.
- Availability to travel within greater Melbourne area
- 3+ years of experience
- You have experience in Occupational Health and Safety, Workers Compensation and occupational rehabilitation/return to work. Experience in Workcover conciliation is also desirable.
- You have experience in providing quality member service and demonstrated ability to build productive working relationships.
