We are currently looking for an Oncology Practice Development Nurse to join our NSW team. This senior nursing role will support our nurses across our Medical Oncology, Haematology, and Radiation Oncology services, on a part time – 3 days per week, fixed term contract until
May 2025. The primary purpose of the Practice Development Nurse (PDN) is to conduct, coordinate and evaluate education, training and ongoing professional development activities of the nursing workforce including the potential for overseeing and supporting external undergraduates and post graduate students (where applicable). The PDN provides direct supervision and support, academic assistance, competency assessment, clinical advice and Practice Development recommendations in collaboration with the clinical nurse educator (CNE)/s in centres across the state (where relevant).
More specifically, you will:Ensures the provision of nursing education is safe, effective and meets the needs of patients and their carers in alignment with best practice standards
Identify training gaps and needs across the state and at individual centres through effective relationships with key stakeholders to create tailored education and training materials to support identified concerns
Facilitates an environment which supports self-accountability and responsibility for effective clinical decision making and patient outcomes
Facilitates positive performance management within the nursing training and development domain
Maintains a peer network of support within GenesisCare, collaborating at a National level for ongoing information sharing and learning that ensures National consistency
Through critical self-appraisal, clinical supervision and networking, continually develops personal and professional knowledge and expertise across Oncology Practice
Assume a high level of communication skills to enable the dissemination of practice changes, updates and best practice at a state level, Nationally, at conferences or through professional publications Collaborative engagement with the local leadership teams and Director of Nursing to develop and support local strategies to meet clinical need through identified Practice Development requirements
Collaborates with, supports and guides the CNE/s to develop structures that support identified learning gaps within individual sites or across the state
Ensuring competency, education and training records of staff are monitored, maintained and documented with support from the CNE/Promotes and facilitates a learning environment that encourages and supports the professional development of all nurses by ensuring
Every member of nursing staff has an individual learning and development plan based on a need's analysis and their professional development goals
