We currently have an opportunity for an Open Space and Recreation Officer to join the Property and Recreation team. As an Open Space and Recreation Officer you will get to:
- To lead the development and implementation of policies, strategies and action plans for recreation and Open Space services to meet the needs of Kiama Council Open Space & Recreation Strategy.
- Build and develop strong effective partnerships with key stakeholders to facilitate the realisation of council’s goals and strategies to improve recreation and Open Space outcomes and the health and wellbeing of Kiama’s current and future communities
- Assist with the efficient and effective management of Council’s Open Space and Recreation facilities in line with Council’s strategies, policies, objectives and budgets.
- To assist with the preparation and submission of grant applications for recreation and Open Space.
What we offer...
- Permanent full time, 35 hours per week
- Annual salary from $73,157 to $87,280 (salary is dependent on qualifications, skills and experience)
- Plus 11% superannuation

What you'll need to be successful in the role...
- Relevant qualifications and experience in Recreation Planning and or management, Open Space or equivalent
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Open Space, sport / outdoor recreation activities and facilities.
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating Recreational and Open Space facilities.
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management and the ability to proactively develop relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders including community and/or sporting groups.
- Ability to engage effectively with the community in identifying needs and seeking views to inform strategic priority setting.
- Previous experience using records management system
