Operational Readiness Manager

Greenbushes Lithium Operation

Full time - 12 month maximum term contract

About the Role:

We are excited to announce that we are inviting applications for a new position in alignment with our ongoing expansion plans - an Operational Readiness Manager. Reporting into the General Manager - Operations, the primary focus of this new position is to facilitate comprehensive development of an Integrated Operational Readiness Plan (ORP). The ORP must consider all technical functions, key stakeholder requirements and operational standards to support the commissioning and transition to Operation of our Chemical Grade Plant #3 (CGP3).

The position is of crucial importance to Talison and a great opportunity for skills, experience and influence to be applied to support the delivery of Talison's strategic priorities.

Whilst the preference for this to be a residential role, based at our Greenbushes Lithium Operation, on a 5:2/4:3 (9-day fortnight) roster, applicants will be considered on a Drive In Drive Out (DIDO) basis. Company housing in Greenbsuhes is on offer for residential applicants.

Please note that this role is offered on a full-time, twelve (12) month, maximum-term contract.

Responsibilities include:

  • ensuring a detailed, workable, comprehensive and feasible ORP is timeously delivered;
  • developing the Operations Breakdown Structure classifying required business processes, people/skills requirements, technological support and ensuring that Operational Readiness activities are completed on time;
  • providing a detailed schedule and estimate for the ORP with specific focus on lead times, ensuring all resources (i.e. people, equipment and machinery) are in place to meet Operational Readiness requirements;
  • ensuring Operational Readiness by reviewing current operating plants;
  • facilitate alignment of roles and responsibilities within the Operational Readiness team and other stakeholders to ensure effective operational ramp-up;
  • define and agree on KPI's and ensure alignment with the stated production goals;
  • provide a baseline detailed estimate of all materials and work to be performed directly and a detailed schedule of all activities directly related to ramp-up of production to ensure Operational Readiness;
  • ensure implementation of an Operating Framework and apply appropriate detailed diagnostic tools and systems;
  • establish and develop an effective communication plan between key stakeholders to ensure efficient change management as and when required;
  • distribute and communicate the detailed Operational Breakdown Structure to ensure that agreement is reached prior to commencement of production;
  • optimise human resources to ensure maximum output is delivered;
  • high level of work ethics is maintained, ensuring that workers continuously strive towards improving their own performance;
  • manage a safe and healthy work environment where workers and contractors can deliver their outputs within a controlled risk environment; and
  • ensuring environmental impact falls within and complies with statutory requirements.

About the Candidate

The following qualification/s and competencies are considered desirable for this position:

  • 10 years' experience as an Operational Readiness Manager within a Processing environment;
  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering;
  • Postgraduate qualification in Business Management;
  • Competency to Provide First Aid; and
  • Current ‘C' class Drivers Licence.

The incumbent should have the following skills and/or experience:

  • proven ability to visually represent work processes, through appropriate Business Process Mapping systems and software;
  • understanding of Project Management methodologies, practices and Report Writing;
  • high level of technical and professional expertise;
  • enhance and develop process workflows through effective use of Operations Management Systems;
  • be adept at building working relationships by developing and using collaborative approaches to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals and objectives;
  • collecting, exploring and presenting patterns and trends through effective Statistical Analysis;
  • unpacking of limiting factor(s) on operations through understanding the Theory of Constraints (TOC);
  • making internal and external customers and stakeholders and their needs a primary focus of one's actions through Leadership and Communication skills; and
  • sound Computer Literacy skills with demonstrated familiarity of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Projects and SAP.
