Karara Mining Limited (KML) is a joint venture between Gindalbie Metals Limited and AnSteel, one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.
With an expected mine life of 30+ years, it will underpin a long-term iron ore business and provide sustainable benefits to the regional community in which we operate. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks.
We are currently seeking an experienced Operational Technology Engineer to join our site-based OT team, responsible for leading active involvement, integration, and implementation of the process control systems, ensuring operational and maintenance criteria are met through design and engineering.
The successful candidate will have an understanding of a mineral processing plant environment and associated equipment, with experience working across all areas of PLC and SCADA control systems.
This role operates on an 8 days on and 6 days off continuous day shift rotation.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities;
- Coordinate multiple OT maintenance and project tasks across the complex
- Management and application of new and legacy operational technologies
- Support the configuration and maintenance of the plant historian and associated software packages contributing to the Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
- Develop and maintain of the complex cooperation technology network, its peripherals and associated software
- Evaluate data and data transformations about their reliability
- Maintenance of P2 explorer and A-Plus shift log database and Central Historian at the implementation manager level
- Data visualization for plant data of using high level language Python, JavaScript, C#
- Provide expertise in OT technologies including automated data collection, historian applications, SCADA, and database applications
- Provide technical knowledge and expertise on Process Control Systems, standards and specialised maintenance for plant improvement and projects which will in turn support Electrical and Instrumentation Technicians
- Provide knowledge of real time data monitoring, collection and processing systems, SCADA, radio, and telemetry-based time series data
Essential Qualifications and Experience;
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with proven control systems experience
- Experience with TETRA DAMM Communication Systems
- Experience with IT Develop skills, e.g., HTML, Python, or JavaScript
- Knowledge of Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) equipment
- Proficiency with Historian Platform, Proficy Historian 2022, P2
- Must have Australian Citizenship or hold a valid visa with permission to work
- A current National Police clearance
