About the role 

The Operational Excellence Lead is responsible for guiding the execution of lean & waste elimination plans to exceed the business objectives for the sites.

This role is pivotal in driving and supporting the implementation of the MCC Operational Excellence framework. The primary responsibility lies in ensuring that the designated savings goals are exceeded across the site and all within the defined timelines outlined in the site Hoshin calendars. Furthermore, this role requires dedicated focus on continuous improvements initiatives aimed at enhancing safety outcomes, project work to achieve productivity improvement and waste/loss elimination.

Success must be through the engagement of the broader team, building upon an inclusive OPEX culture where listening and fact-based action will be paramount. 

Duties include: 

  • Drive best practice manufacturing processes, promoting a lean culture for enhanced performance and results ensuring maximum efficiency.
  • Lead Adelaide's Hoshin calendar, ensuring inclusiveness and visibility.
  • Foster inclusion and engagement through lean events, providing skills and tools for the lean journey.
  • Actively participate in Lean, Quality, and Workplace Safety programs.
  • Facilitate Kaizen events, support DIFOT culture, and analyse departmental key metrics.
  • Drive Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) by utilising Lean Principles.
  • Have a strong financial acumen to be able to delivery on financial KPI’s.
  • Provide leadership, overall support, assistance, direction, and communication to management teams regarding Operational Excellence initiatives. 

About you 

  • Lean Six Sigma experience is preferred.
  • Continuous manufacturing experience with results supporting effectiveness as a change agent achieving both cultural and EBITDA improvement outcomes.
  • Strong experience with Value Stream Mapping disciplines is a benefit.
  • Leadership skills with a track record of engaging and motivating individuals and teams including non-direct reports.
  • Experience in being a change agent leading complex transformational activities. Personal experience in leading more than 10 Kaizen events.
