We are seeking a motivated and experienced Operations Manager who will lead and manage their team to effectively work with stakeholders to deliver reliable carbon farming projects. You and your team will proactively adopt a continual-improvement approach to plan and execute practical, compliant, high-integrity carbon projects that combine, technical support, on-ground management activities.
The role will include regular travel to remote areas of the wheatbelt in particular, to ensure project vegetation is monitored and activities are implemented in accordance with project management plans.

Where you fit in:
Nativ Carbon works with companies and organisations who wish to generate Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCU’s) through vegetation farming in the West Australian Wheatbelt.
Nativ Carbon is committed to working with stakeholders to increase carbon sequestration in vegetation and soil to reduce Australia’s net carbon emissions.
Your role will be to support the delivery of Nativ Carbon’s offset revegetation projects through direct liaison with stakeholders, collect evidence of compliant management activities, carry out field work to assess vegetation and its regeneration and completion and submission of carbon offset reports that support delivery activities.
Health, safety and risk assessment is also a key area for you, taking a leading role in adhering to and reviewing, improving and implementing HSE policies and procedure associated with field work.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Liaise with landholders to ensure timely management activities for Nativ Carbon projects and ensure management activities are appropriately monitored and evidence collected.
- Manage interactions with different stakeholders with different backgrounds and experiences, with good inter-personal skills and adaptability to a range of circumstances.
- Ensure a high level of data management.
- Key role in Nativ Carbon’s record keeping management systems for maintaining project information and data.
- Assist in the development of Management Plans and Offset Reports.
- Stay up to date with relevant policy positions, regulatory requirements and guidance from the Clean Energy Regulator.
- Work with Health, Safety, Security and Environment policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Conduct field monitoring to quantify and characterize vegetation, including mature and regenerating vegetation as well as broad soil characterisation.
- Work with others in the Nativ Carbon team to assist with planning, implementing and monitoring
The ideal candidate will have:
- A tertiary qualification in the natural sciences, such as ecology, environmental science, natural resource management or agricultural science.
- Knowledge and experience in effective techniques for revegetation with assisted natural regeneration, protection of regrowth, tree planting, drone or vehicle based direct seeding, regenerative agriculture and carbon farming.
- Experience in analysing spatial data through mapping software and designing digital maps with geographic data and various other data sets
- Experience in weed identification and mapping
- Project and contract management skills
- Ability to prepare budgets and monitor and manage financial performance
- Experience in multi-disciplinary stakeholder management, such as facilitating effective partnerships with clients, farmers, subcontractors, suppliers and research bodies.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills, with an ability to communicate findings and technical concepts to others.
- Ability to understand and apply legislation and regulations.
- Skilled in compliance oversight of procurement and contract management.
- The ability to build strong relationships, to inspire, influence, empower and enable others.
- Confident use of initiative; the ability to recommend innovation and smarter ways to do things.
- Current manual drivers licence required.
Competencies:
- Experience working in a cross-cultural environment with the cultural context when working with Aboriginal or other Indigenous peoples.
- Demonstrated competence in written and oral communication skills, highly organised with attention to detail and the ability to use Microsoft Office programs in the preparation of reports.
- Mapping and GIS experience.
Salary:
Salary range: $120,000 to $180,000 depending on experience, plus company vehicle + superannuation.
This role will be offered as a 12-month contract initially; with a 6-month probation period and then will transition to a permanent full time position thereafter for the right candidate.
Commencement: The position will commence as soon as a suitable candidate has been found.
