ABOUT THE ROLE
The role is responsible for Welshpool Operations, encompassing the quoting, planning, and execution of mining machine rebuilds and statewide welding and fabrication services. The role is accountable for developing and delivering on the strategic plan for the business unit, which contributes to WesTrac’s overall strategic objective to be the #1 CAT dealer in the Asia Pacific region.
The role is responsible for building and leading a high-performing team with a positive culture, creating a safe, productive, and enjoyable work environment in alignment with WesTrac SPARC Values. The Operations Manager will drive cross-functional collaboration to create solutions that matter to our customers and deliver an unrivalled customer experience.
The role will own the financial performance of the operation and demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset, driving efficiency in all areas and removing waste with the goal of lowering the overall cost to serve.
This role will have direct reports (5) and report directly to the Group Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop & execute a multi-year strategic plan aligned with corporate goals and budgets.
- Manage financial performance, maintaining multi-million-dollar budgets and ensuring cost-efficiency.
- Exemplify and cultivate a high-performing team with a positive culture in alignment with WesTrac SPARC Values.
- Leading and developing the talent on your team to deliver an unparalleled customer experience for valued clients in the mining and construction sectors (think BHP, Rio Tinto, FMG, etc.)
- Analysing data, compiling reports, and providing insights to inform strategic decision-making.
- Identifying areas for improvement in operational processes and implementing solutions to streamline efficiency and eliminate waste.
- Lead the business unit to provide efficient and sustainable delivery of the business objectives.
- Continuously identify areas for improvement and streamline operations.
- Manage stakeholder relations, ensure alignment between staff and customer expectations, and implement corrective actions.

ABOUT YOU
Ideal skills
- Tertiary qualifications in progress or completed.
- 10+ years of experience in a comparable industry.
- At least three years’ experience multi-disciplinary teams within a similar sector (construction, mining, or heavy equipment)
